Angel Garden Vigil for Parents, Families of Deceased Children

This week’s inaugural memorial candlelight vigil at the new Angel of Hope Garden in Washington is only for parents and families of children who have died.

The vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the garden which is located south of Lions Lake in the Washington city park. The candlelight vigil will be held each year on Dec. 6.

A spokesman for the Angel Garden committee said the area residents will be invited to attend a public dedication of the garden at a later date.

The garden — which features the Angel of Hope statue and monument and brick pavers engraved with the names of deceased children — is designed to be a quiet place for parents and others to remember their loved ones.

It is for all people from throughout Franklin County and beyond and is being funded entirely through private donations and fundraisers.

The garden committee is still seeking contributions to cover the cost of developing the garden and for future maintenance.

Engraved bricks can be ordered by calling the same number or dropping by the parks office.
