A 4-year-old Newburg boy was flown to Children’s Hospital, St. Louis, after he was struck by a vehicle driven by a Sullivan man Thursday, June, 9.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Austin A. Bramel was struck at 6:25 p.m. on Highway T south of Newburg in Phelps County by a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Dillon M. Goodman, 24, Sullivan.

Goodman was driving the vehicle too fast for conditions in a driveway, when the car rounded a curve, ran off the right side of the driveway and struck the child, the patrol said.

Goodman was arrested by the patrol on an Army deserter warrant, and suspicions of leaving the scene of an injury accident, second-degree assault, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated resulting in an injury, driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.
