State Auditor, County Commission Will Finalize Tax Rates Before the End of October

Cities and schools aren’t the only taxing entities that set property tax rates ahead of this November’s tax bills.

Sewer districts, fire districts, ambulance districts, a single hospital district, libraries and college districts all have locked in their rates which will likely be approved by the Franklin County commission, following approval from the state auditor’s office, later this month.

The following are the levies the districts adopted for this year and their rates from 2011, reflected as per $100 of assessed valuation:

Fire Districts

Beaufort/Leslie, $0.4654 in 2012, unchanged from 2011.

Boles, $0.7425, down from $0.8384 in 2011.

Bourbon, $0.0963, down from $0.1604 in 2011.

Gerald/Rosebud, $0.2452, up from $0.2440 in 2011.

New Haven/Berger, $0.25, unchanged from 2011.

Pacific, $0.8103, down from $0.8118 in 2011.

St. Clair, $0.4712, down from $0.4797 in 2011.

Sullivan, $0.1351, up from $0.1307 in 2011.

Union, $0.13, down from $0.2728 in 2011.

Union’s rate is down considerably after the passage of a sales tax by city voters. As part of the ballot proposal, the district promised to roll back its property tax rate.

Ambulance Districts

Gerald, $0.2368, down from $0.2926 in 2011.

Hermann, $0.1469, up from $0.1460 in 2011.

Meramec, $0.2357, down from $0.2392 in 2011.

New Haven, $0.2252, up from $0.2218 in 2011.

St. Clair, $0.2440, down from $0.2466 in 2011.

Union, $0.1682, up from $0.1675 in 2011.

Libraries

Franklin County, $0.0777, unchanged from 2011.

Sullivan, $0.1046, up from $0.1036 in 2011.

Washington, $0.0945, up from $0.0927 in 2011.

Sewer Districts

Beauty View, $0.5837, up from $0.5822 in 2011.

Calvey Creek, $0.3655, unchanged from 2011.

Crestview, $0.4631, up from $0.4627 in 2011.

Gray Summit, $0.4022, up from $0.3888 in 2011.

St. Clair, $0.3116, unchanged from 2011.

Sylvan Manor, $0.5362, up from $0.5356 in 2011.

The two junior college districts serving the county, the East Central district and the St. Louis district, set rates of $0.44 and $0.22 respectively.

The St. Louis district rate is unchanged from last year, while the East Central rate is an increase of $0.0015.

The Hermann hospital district, the only hospital district serving part of the county, raised its rate as well from $0.7009 in 2011 to $0.7024 this year.

The state of Missouri’s property tax rate remained unchanged at $0.03 per $100 of assessed valuation.
