Authorities are seeking to question a man accused of stealing a motorcycle from a Franklin County resident.

Anthony Rhone, 30, St. Louis, is charged in a felony complaint with stealing a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, forgery and a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property. A $75,000 cash-only bond was set in the case.

Rhone allegedly went to the victim’s home at Robertsville Sunday, June 3, to look at a motorcycle the man had advertised online.

The suspect gave the victim a cashier’s check, then took the motorcycle for a test drive and never returned, according to reports.

When the man did not return, the victim called the sheriff’s office.

Investigators who responded learned that the pickup truck the suspect was driving had been stolen in Sedalia and that the license plates on the vehicle had been stolen in Illinois, according to reports.

The cashier’s check the suspect gave the victim was forged, authorities said.
