CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — A 21-year-old senior at Southeast Missouri State University has died after being severely injured in a scooter accident.

The Southeast Missourian reports (http://bit.ly/PH6j5T ) that Meg Herndon of Fenton suffered a severe brain injury Sept. 9 when the scooter she was riding was hit by a truck in Cape Girardeau.

The university announced Herndon's death Thursday.

Herndon's mother, Cindi, also announced that Herndon's rare B-negative blood, liver and kidneys were being donated.

Herndon played on the university's soccer team and was studying nursing. The university canceled its soccer games for this weekend.
