WENTZVILLE, Mo. (AP) — Construction is beginning on a $380 million expansion of the General Motors plant near St. Louis.

A groundbreaking ceremony at the plant in Wentzville is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Monday. GM, United Auto Worker officials and several political leaders, including Gov. Jay Nixon, are scheduled to attend.

GM announced in November plans to begin making Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup trucks at Wentzville, creating 1,200 new jobs at the plant. GM already makes Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana full-size vans.
