CARTHAGE, Mo. (AP) — Carthage police say a 22-year-old man died after he stabbed himself in the heart while running from officers.
Police Chief Greg Dagnan says officers made contact with the man Sunday afternoon after receiving a report he was walking down a street carrying two knives.
The man ran when officers found him. Dagnan says eventually the man began stabbing himself and, before officers could stop him, he stabbed himself in the heart.
The man was pronounced dead at a Joplin hospital.
