St. Charles, Mo. Couple Charged in Heroin Overdose Death

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — A St. Charles County man and his girlfriend are both facing involuntary manslaughter and drug distribution charges for allegedly supplying the heroin that led to a man's death.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/Sds80P ) reports that Thomas Lucas Jr. and Whitney Patrick, both 23, were charged after a grand jury indictment.
Police say Jemil Francis Ely bought heroin from the couple on July 31. Ely died that day after using heroin at his St. Charles apartment.
Authorities say Ely had overdosed on heroin at least twice previously but the couple sold it to him anyway.
Lucas and Patrick are both free after posting bond.
