HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. (AP) — Two adults have been arrested following the death of a 9-month-old boy in a central Missouri home.

The Holts Summit Police Department said Thursday an autopsy was being conducted on the baby, who was found dead in a playpen by emergency personnel responding to a 911 call.

Police said two adults told investigators they put the baby to bed between 10 and 11 p.m. Tuesday, then checked him around 11 a.m. Wednesday. They called 911 because the boy was blue and unresponsive.

Authorities said the adults admitted using methamphetamine on Tuesday. They remained in custody Thursday while possible charges were being studied.

A 2-year-old child in the home was taken into protective custody by Missouri social services workers.

Holts Summit is located in Callaway County, just north of Jefferson City.
