SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Springfield police are looking for a man who is charged with murder in a shooting death near Missouri State University.

Joshua Brown of Springfield was charged Sunday with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 20-year-old Javon Carter. Brown had not been captured by Monday morning.

Police say Carter was shot after an argument outside a house Brown lived in blocks from the university. Witnesses say Brown accused Carter and some friends of breaking into the house and stealing.

Another man was shot during the struggle but he did not have life-threatening injuries.

Brown is black, 5-feet-10-inches tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. "Veronda" is tattooed on his left inner forearm.
