HANNIBAL, Mo. (AP) — A 25-year-old homeless woman says she damaged a northeast Missouri police car and got caught on purpose — so she would go to jail and have a place to spend the night.

The Quincy (Ill.) Herald-Whig (http://bit.ly/ME8naM ) reports that Victoria Norell of Hannibal was arrested Saturday night and taken to the Marion County Jail after she allegedly shattered the rear window and damaged the trunk lid of a Hannibal police car.

Police say she walked into the police station and confessed, saying she wanted to go to jail to get off the streets. Security cameras at the police station also indicated she was responsible for the damage.
