Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe has announced the Pepsi Grandstand concert lineup for the August state fair, offering a mix of country and classic rock artists.

Headliners will include the duo, Eddie and Troy, of Montgomery Gentry performing Aug. 11, and Hank Williams Jr. Aug. 18. Both shows will feature well-known classic rock bands as openers.

The Gentry pair, famous for smash hits, “Where I Come From” and “Good Ol’ Boys” will entertain state fair fans along with the opener 38 Special. This Southern rock group will have fans singing along to tunes like, “Hold on Loosely” and “Rockin’ Into the Night.”

According to Wolfe, the concert series will include some other surprising combinations.

“I am extremely excited to offer Hank Williams Jr. Taking Back the Country tour on our final Saturday,” he said. “Opening for Williams will be rock, blues and boogie legend George Thorogood and the Destroyers.”

Williams, who has 20 gold albums, six platinum albums and 10 No. 1 singles, will perform hits like, “A Country Boy Can Survive,” “Dixie on My Mind,” and “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight.”

Thorogood and the Destroyers likewise have a successful recording history with a song list that includes “Get a Haircut” and “Bad to the Bone.”

Impressive hit lists also belong to each of the stars in this year’s Country Gold tour, performing on the Pepsi Grandstand stage Aug. 15. Sharing the stage with Leroy Van Dyke and the Auctioneers will be Rex Allen Jr., Leona Williams, Bobby Bare and Lynn Anderson.

A surprise among this mix will be the Quebe Sisters Band, bringing a unique style of bluegrass, jazz and western swing to the concert.

The August Missouri State Fair also will host young country artists: Randy Rogers Band and The Dirt Drifters Aug. 9, Justin Moore and Josh Thompson Aug. 10, and Jake Owen and Colt Ford Aug. 16.
