Local lawmakers have received varying grades from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry when it comes to how they voted on economic issues in 2013.

State Rep. Paul Curtman, R-Pacific, received a “D”; while Rep. Dave Schatz, R-Sullivan, received an “A”; and Dave Hinson, R-St. Clair, received a “B.”

State Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington, received a “B.”

The bills that were chosen for the review were from the Missouri Chamber’s legislative priorities. The issues included an array of topics such as education, tax, workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, economic development, tort, employment law, labor and environmental policy.

The rankings are a strong tool to determine which lawmakers are committed to protecting the state’s business climate and which ones are working against it, Chamber President and CEO Daniel P. Mehan was quoted as saying in the organization’s magazine.
