A man was injured and transfered to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by air ambulance early Wednesday afternoon after he crashed his car into a tree on Highway PP just south of Jahn Road. The accident occurred at about 12:15 p.m. According to St. Clair Fire Protection District personnel on the scene, it appeared that the silver Honda Civic the man was driving was southbound on Highway PP and had just gone past Jahn Road when the car traveled off the left side of the road and crashed head-on into a tree. The emergency responder said the injuries appeared to be serious. The man had to be extricated from the vehicle. No other information was available. Here, Jamie Clayton of the St. Clair Ambulance District helps with rescue efforts at the scene. For more, see the Weekend Missourian.
