Members of the St. Clair Fire Protection District educated younger R-XIII School District students on fire safety this week during National Fire Prevention Week.

Elementary school students visited House 1 on North Street throughout the week and were talked through a program led by Capt. Andy Branscum. Sparky the Fire Dog and Freddie, the district’s remote-controlled fire truck, assisted.

Here, Branscum dresses St. Clair Elementary School second-grade teacher Brooke Davis in a fire suit on Wednesday in an effort to show the youngsters that firefighters are approachable and friendly people despite all the gear they have to wear while at a scene. Lonedell students also visited House 2 during the week.
