Boys Injured in Separate Accidents
A 9-year-old St. Clair boy suffered serious injuries on Saturday morning when he was involved in a motorcycle accident outside the city limits on Highway K. The incident was one of two on May 26 that involved young boys riding vehicles.
The Missouri Highway Patrol stated that Ryan S. Barrett was driving a 2001 Yamaha GTR90 when he lost control and the cycle overturned at 9:40 a.m. The boy was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred at 1281 Highway K southeast of St. Clair.
Barrett was transported by an Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
Damage to the motorcycle was minor.
At 10:35 p.m. the same day, Jayden J, Evans, 13, of Barnhart, suffered moderate injuries when he was involved in a one-vehicle crash at 4627 Highway 30 in the extreme eastern portion of Franklin County.
According to that MHP report, Evans was riding a 2009 Polaris Phoenix 200 all-terrain vehicle through a field when it struck a rise in the terrain, and the boy was ejected. He was wearing a helmet.
Evans was transported by St. Clair ambulance to St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis.
There was no damage to the ATV.
