A warrant was issued through Franklin County Circuit Court Thursday charging a Sullivan man with one count of second-degree domestic assault.

According to information from the Sullivan Police Department, 38-year-old Kevin D. Parker was charged and being held on a $5,000 bond after his girlfriend said she stabbed him in the arm in self-defense during a physical altercation.

Lt. Patrick Johnson of the Sullivan Police Department stated in a press release that Parker's injury was not life-threatening and he that refused medical treatment.

The press release stated that at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, Sullivan police officers responded to a room at the Family Motor Inn, 209 N. Service Road in Sullivan, for a report of a stabbing victim. When officers arrived, it was determined that a domestic incident had occurred the night before between an adult male and female.

Through an investigation, it was determined that Parker had been stabbed by his 40-year-old girlfriend, who also lives in Sullivan. Information stated that the woman indicated she had stabbed Parker in self-defense during the physical altercation.
