Storm Damage in St. Clair
A small but intense thunderstorm that for a short period of timeĀ featured jagged lightning, thunder, heavy rainĀ and strong winds ripped through the St. Clair area late Saturday afternoon, downing wires, road signs, branches and even large trees.
The worst damage appeared to be just west of the city, where a large tree snapped off at its base and crashed into this house at 887 Hagen Road near the St. Clair VFW.
Two other large trees in the yard also were toppled by the storm. The homeowners were inside at the time of the incident, which occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. They were not injured.
There also were scattered reports of power outages in and around St. Clair.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area.
