St. Clair Teen Hurt in Crash

A St. Clair teenager suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 12:18 p.m. on Wednesday and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for treatment.

The Missouri Highway Patrol stated that 17-year-old Troy L. Sims was injured in the crash that occured on Highway PP just south of the intersection of Jahn Road. The patrol’s report stated that Sims was not wearing a safety belt.

According to information provided, Sims was southbound in a 2000 Honda Civic when he traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected, traveled off the left side of the road and crashed into a tree. Emergency responders had to extricate Sims from the vehicle before he was flown to Mercy.
