The Travel Channel is coming to Pacific to film the Pacific Partnership’s summer events scheduled for the week of Aug. 11-14, according to Loyd Harris, Summerfest chairman.

A carnival will be held in the city park Thursday, Aug. 11, through Sunday, Aug. 14.

The rides and midway will be set up in the center park circle and will coincide with the Great Pacific BBQ Competition and Summer Fest Car Cruise.

The Great Pacific BBQ Competition, a Kansas City Barbecue sanctioned event, will take place Aug. 12-13. This event will occupy the portion of the city park south of the tennis courts. Tom Butcher is event chairman.

For more information about the competition, people may e-mail Butcher at Shef4799@gmail.com or visit www.pacificmobbq.com.

An antique car will be on display during the Summerfest Car Cruise. It returns to the traditional streets in historic downtown. This event will take place Saturday, Aug. 13.

Organizers are still looking for vendors and exhibitors for Cruise Night. Any individual or organization interested in participating can request an application by writing to: Pacific Partnership, P.O. Box 267, Pacific, MO 63069.

Cruise Night chairman is Loyd Harris, who can be reached at 314-614-2538 or turftoes@charter.net.

Sponsorships are needed to help support these community events. Recognition will be given in promotional materials at each event.

Platinum contributors of $1,000 will be recognized in all promotional materials at all events, on a double brick placed along the pavers at the plaza and be included on the electronic billboard on Interstate 44. Contributors also will receive a plaque honoring their efforts in the community.

Gold contributors of $500 will be recognized in all promotional materials at all events, on a single brick in the plaza and receive a plaque honoring their efforts.

Silver contributors of $250 will be recognized in all promotional materials and a brick placed in the plaza.

Bronze contributors of $100 will be recognized on the stage at all events.
