School Board Reviews Preliminary Enrollment
The Meramec Valley R-III School District will start the 2012-13 school year in August with approximately 3,151 students, according to Terri Parks, assistant superintendent.
Parks presented projected enrollment figures to school board members at the July 18 board meeting.
Projected student enrollment numbers were presented for each district school building, Parks said.
“These projections are still preliminary,” she said, “but were updated as of July 10. A summary includes the following numbers.”
Projections are for 1,458 elementary students and 1,693 secondary students for a total student body of 3,151.
Projected enrollment at Pacific High School numbers are: ninth grade, 251; 10th grade 298; 11th grade, 240; and 12th grade, 210; for a total of 999. Riverbend School’s eighth-grade class is projected at 233.
Meramec Valley Middle School projected class sizes are: sixth grade, 201; and seventh grade, 261; for a total of 462.
Elementary school projections are: Coleman, 416; Nike, 127; Robertsville, 131; Truman, 336 and Zitzman, 448.
Parks said she would continue to review class sizes and report to the board each month.
“We’ll know more as we approach the start of school,” she said.
