Police Capture Burglars Mintues After Break-In

Pacific police officers were dispatched Nov. 21 at 2:21 a.m. to the Subway restaurant located at 123 E. Osage in response to an alarm sounding.

Upon their arrival, it was discovered that a window had been broken out and entry had been made into the closed business, according to officials.

Movement in the store turned on security cameras, which photographed the individuals entering the store and taking items.

The thieves were gone when police and Keith Bruns, Subway owner, arrived on the scene.

According to Police Chief Matt Mansell, officers started checking the area and a green Jeep Cherokee was observed leaving the area with no license plates.

Lt. Donald Locke stopped the vehicle a short distance from the scene and made contact with the four occupants. Evidence was located in the vehicle that the four subjects had in fact just broken into the Subway shop, and all four were placed into custody.

Detectives were called in and completed the investigation developing evidence that indicated that the four had stolen items. Those items were recovered.

All four were transported to Franklin County Jail, awaiting warrants, Chief Mansell said.

The individuals arrested were two white males, ages 22 and 20, from the state of Maryland; a 19-year-old white male immigrant from Russia; and a 22-year-old white male from Pacific.

The break-in took place exactly two weeks after a suspect was apprehended following an armed robbery at the West Osage Dollar General Store, when a quick arrest resulted in a suspect confessing to robbing the store at knifepoint on Nov. 6.

“In both cases the officers did excellent work,” Mansell said. “It showed that our officers are trained detectives who know what to do when they arrive at the scene of a crime.”
