Mourners Line the Streets

Mourners stand beneath brightly colored umbrellas Saturday in front of Bell Funeral Home at 709 W. Union to show their respects for Army Spc. Jeffrey White Jr. who was killed in Afghanistan while serving in the U.S. Army. Mourners showed up here more than two hours before White’s procession was expected and stayed as the soldier’s remaines were carried into the funeral home. Despite heavy rain, the community turned out by the hundreds to line the flag-decorated route from the city limits on East Osage to the funeral home.
