The city of Pacific is planning an old-fashioned Independence Day celebration and fireworks show in the city park on Sunday, July 1.

Music, food and memorabilia booths, formal presentations, flags and balloons will fill the park leading up to the after dusk pyrotechnics.

Festivities begin at 4 p.m. Fireworks will begin between 9:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Carol Johnson, event chair, is still soliciting vendors for the event. She said she also needs some help with fundraising.

“As Pacific continues to grow, city officials feel it is important to offer our community special events,” Johnson and Kim Barfield, city clerk, said in a letter addressed to business owners.

“While a portion of tourism funds is budgeted to support this event, we are seeking help to match those funds through donations,” Johnson said.

Vendors interested in entering a booth can contact Johnson at 314-221-5919.
