Historic Shaw Art Fair

The Historic Shaw Art Fair, one of the premier fine art and fine craft fairs in the St. Louis area and the only one in the city of St. Louis, will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-6, in the 4100 and 4200 blocks of Flora Place, just east of Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis.

Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Shaw Art Fair is a professionally juried fine art and fine craft fair limited to 135 artists. Artist entrants are drawn from across the country and feature a large variety of media and artistic styles.

Some 8,000 to 10,000 visitors and collectors from throughout the Missouri and Illinois metro area and beyond are expected to attend.

The Fair is loved by visitors for its setting — a wide, residential boulevard lined with impressive mansions dating from the 1800s.

The event features a food court, live music, children’s activities and artist demonstrations. Dog owners are welcome with leashed pets, and encouraged to visit the Pet Station for fresh water and shade.

Disabled parking and accessible entry ramp is provided. Additional free parking is available on neighborhood streets and in Tower Grove Park.

For admission information, people can visit www.ShawArtFair.org or Historic Shaw Art Fair on Facebook.

Also being held the same weekend will be the Best of Missouri Market, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Missouri Botanical Garden. This event offers a variety of arts, crafts, foods and goodies all made in Missouri.

The Shaw Neighborhood Housing Corporation Open House Event will be going on as well. There is no admission charge for this self-guided tour. Details are available at the information both at Shaw Art Fair or at www.shawhousing.wordpress.com.

Finally, an old-fashioned street party done in hip, urban style will be held Saturday on Manchester between Kingshighway and Vandeventer, which is just five minutes north of Shaw Art Fair. GroveFest starts at 2 p.m. There is no admission charge. For more details, visit www.thegrovestl.com.
