Muny to Hold Open Auditions For Children This Weekend

Muny auditions for children (currently age 7 through eighth grade) will be held Saturday, March 2, with callbacks on Sunday, March 3. The children’s auditions will be held at St. Louis University High School, 4970 Oakland Ave., St. Louis. For more information, people should visit www.muny.org, or call 314-361-1900, extension 395.

The children’s chorus auditions will be as follows:

Saturday, March 2

Ages 7-8, 8:30-9:30 a.m.

Ages 9-10, 10 a.m.-noon.

Ages 11 through eighth grade, 1-3 p.m.

Upon arrival, auditioners receive an audition number. The audition process lasts 90-120 minutes after your number is called.

Please arrive dressed to dance, with jazz shoes or ballet shoes.

Be prepared to sing 16 measures of a song. Bring your own sheet music in the key that you will be singing. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella or recorded music.

Not every auditioner will be asked to sing.

These are closed auditions, not open for viewing by the public.

Children who are asked to return for the Sunday callback will be given written instructions.

Sunday, March 3

Callbacks will be held at The Muny, Orthwein Hall, 1 Theatre Drive, St. Louis. Registration for all performers will be at 9:30 a.m.

Please be prepared to stay for the entire day.

Free parking is available on Pagoda Circle in front of the main box office. Follow the signs to Orthwein Hall.

Callbacks will be videotaped. Media may be present to film or photograph portions of the auditions for publicity purposes.

“West Side Story,” Aug. 5-11.
