Franklin County authorities are searching for a suspect accused of robbing a man at gunpoint who had been sleeping in company van at Stanton Saturday morning.

The victim said he parked along the westbound ramp to Interstate 44 and shortly before 7 a.m. the suspect pulled up behind him in a 1990s Dodge Intrepid and woke him up, asking about the company he worked for.

He then demanded that the victim give him his wallet and displayed a black pistol, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect then fled the scene, westbound on I-44.

The sheriff's office said the man's car was described as dirty and had a black sticker on the rear window.

The suspect was described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s about 5' 10" tall with light brown hair, a two-day growth of beard and a mustache, the sheriff's office said. He was wearing an orange baseball cap, a brown camouflage coat and blue jeans with dark brown boots.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 636-583-2560.
