New Haven Woman Dies After Being Accidently Shot by Husband

Her husband, Earl Kuschel, 67, was sighting in a scope on the rifle and was shooting at an outdoor target from his workshop when the victim came around the corner and did not see him, the sheriff’s office said. The husband did not see his wife and fired at the target and the bullet struck her, according to the report.

The sheriff’s office was called about 3:15 p.m.

The incident occurred at the couple’s home in the 800 block of Gerling Lane off Highway KK, west of Campbellton. No foul play is suspected.

When the first deputy arrived he found the husband performing CPR on the victim. The deputy assisted with CPR until a New Haven Ambulance crew arrived. Ambulance personnel then pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
