Investigation Continues in Death of Mother, Daughters Found Near Campground
Crawford County law enforcement officials have identified the four bodies found Saturday near the Blue Springs Ranch campground as that of a St. Louis area mother and her three daughters.
According to a statement issued by Crawford County Sheriff Randy Martin Sunday afternoon, the dead are: Christine Adewunmi, 37, and her three daughters, Lauren, 8, Samantha, 4 and Kate, 3.
Authorities say all of the deceased died from gunshot wounds. A spokesman for the Crawford County Sheriff's Department would not confirm that the deaths appear to be that of a murder/suicide adding that the investigation is ongoing. Authorities did say that a handgun was found near where the bodies were discovered.
According to an earlier statement by Martin, the bodies were discovered at 1:10 p.m. Saturday on a road near the campground south of Bourbon in Crawford County. Deputies and Missouri Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene and began an investigation.
Crawford County Coroner Paul Hutson pronounced the four individuals dead shortly after they were discovered.
The Blue Springs Ranch is a popular livery on the Meramec River near the town of Bourbon. Martin said that the deceased had not been guests at the campground.
