UPDATED: Washington police received information Thursday about a possible suspect in the attempt last week to steal narcotics from the Walgreen’s store here.

Detective Sgt. Brad Erisman said a person who saw surveillance photos of the suspect on The Missourian’s website, emissourian.com, called and gave investigators the name of the possible suspect.

Investigators plan to follow up and question the man.

The suspect was caught behind the pharmacy counter shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, March 30, and left when he was approached by a pharmacist.

More than two hours later he was caught on video surveillance cameras at a Walgreen’s store in Wentzville. Police there said they believe the suspect was able to steal about 3,300 pills of various narcotics before leaving the store.

The investigation is continuing Erisman said.

Earlier Story

Washington and Wentzville police are asking the public’s help in identifying the man in these surveillance photos taken early Saturday, March 30, at Walgreens stores in both cities.

Shortly before 3 a.m. the man was caught behind the pharmacy counter at the Washington Walgreens. Police believe he was looking to steal narcotics but he was caught by a pharmacist before he took anything, according to Detective Sgt. Brad Erisman. The suspect then left the store.

A couple of hours later he was caught on camera at the Wentzville store where it’s believed he stole a large amount of narcotics from behind the pharmacy counter.

Police there said the man may have driven away in a silver or tan Nissan Pathfinder.

Anyone who can identify the suspect or who has any information is asked to contact Erisman at 636-390-1059.
