A Franklin County woman was killed and two other people seriously were injured Saturday night, Dec. 29, in a head-on collision near Villa Ridge, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.

The patrol said the crash on Highway AT involved a westbound 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Vivian L. Freer, 50, Leslie, and an eastbound 2002 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Jo A. Gray, 56, Villa Ridge.

Gray was transported by air ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis where she died later, according to reports.

A passenger in Gray’s car, James N. Gray, 56, Villa Ridge, suffered serious injuries. He was taken by Meramec Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

Freer, who was not wearing a safety belt, suffered apparent serious injuries. She was taken by Union ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington, the patrol said.

Both of the Grays were wearing safety belts.

According to the preliminary patrol report, the Freer vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Gray vehicle.

The 11:55 p.m. crash happened three-tenths of a mile east of Highway M.
