A New Year Country Church Tour will be held on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, at participating churches across Franklin County. Churches taking part will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for visitors to engage in silent prayer and viewing of Christmas decorations.

Someone from each church will be available to greet guests as they enter and provide information on the local church history and events.

Participating churches this year include:

St. Francis Borgia in Downtown Washington;

St. Gertrude in Krakow;

Faith Lutheran in Washington;

St. Ann in Clover Bottom;

Ebenezer Lutheran in Leslie;

Holy Family-Port Hudson, between Washington and New Haven;

St. Anthony in Sullivan;

St. Gerald in Gerald; and

Holy Martyrs in Japan.

A map showing a driving route between churches will be made available at www.stannchurchcloverbottom.org.

The idea for this event began with the efforts of country churches of various denominations in Perry, Bollinger and Cape counties that for several years have had their doors open for a similar event during the Advent season.
