The Washington City Council agreed to purchase a new Bobcat skidloader to help multiple city departments and snow plowing operations.
The Bobcat will be part of the street department’s fleet of equipment, but Street Superintendent Tony Bonastia said it can help other departments.
In a letter to the council, Bonastia said the Bobcat can be used for the street, parks and water departments.
The Bobcat is a T740 Bobcat Compact Track Leader and will replace a 2002 8185 Bobcat Skid Leader. The city is purchasing the Bobcat from Clark Equipment Co. off the state contract for $57,741.44.
Bonastia said the state contract offered a 30 percent discount for the city.
Additionally the council agreed to purchase a 96-inch snowplow attachment for the Bobcat from the same vendor. The attachment costs $2,019.50.
The street department had budgeted $72,000 for the new Bobcat.
