Chances for Eligible Citizens To Register to Vote This Month
The deadline to register to vote in the November general election is Oct. 10.
To encourage people to vote, East Central College will hold a voter registration event Monday, Sept. 17, and Tuesday, Sept. 25, National Voter Registration Day, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
On those days, a table staffed with volunteers will be set up on the first floor of the Union campus’s multipurpose building.
Curb registration, for those unable to access the building, will be available.
Those needing a curb side volunteer dispatched should park in the parking lot southeast of the multipurpose building and call 636-402-8460.
Nonstudent parking will be available all over the campus.
People also may register to vote from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Franklin County Clerk’s office, located at 400 E. Locust St., Union.
To vote, an individual must be a U.S. citizen and age 18 or older by the Nov. 6 election date.
People may not vote while serving a term in prison, while on probation or parole after being convicted of a felony or after being convicted of a felony or misdemeanor connected with voting or the right of suffrage, according to the Missouri secretary of state’s website.
Those who have changed addresses since the last time they voted also should contact election authorities to update their registration.
For more information about the East Central College events, people may call the college at 636-584-6500.
For more information about registering to vote, people may call the clerk’s office at 636-583-6355.
Those outside of Franklin County may visit http://sos.mo.gov/elections/countyclerks.asp and select their county of residence from the drop down menu to find their local election official for information on where to register.
