Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington, spoke on an unemployment benefit extension he and other senators threatened to filibuster during the 2011 regular session.

The Senate Financial and Governmental Organizations and Elections Committee last week rejected Sen. Brian Nieves’ Capitol parking bill.

The committee in an executive session voted the bill “do not pass.”

SB 694 provided that no parking space upon the Capitol grounds shall be specifically designated or set aside for any person who is not an official or employee of the state; however, an appropriate number of spaces may be designated for handicapped parking.

Several spaces are designated for the Capitol press staff. Also, some spaces are designated for handicapped parking.
