An update on the search for a new vice president of finance at East Central College was given to the college board of trustees during a special meeting Thursday, July 19.

The position is vacant after the former vice president of finance, Dr. Jon Bauer, became college president July 1.

Bauer said four interviews were scheduled between Thursday, July 19, and Tuesday, July 24.

“These are all qualified candidates,” Bauer said. Each candidate is interviewing with the search committee, the vice presidents and Bauer.

“I’m hopeful after this round of interviews and resulting reference checks, we’ll be ready to make a recommendation to the board,” he said.

Originally, the search committee hoped to have a recommendation already, but Bauer said it’s more important to get the right person in the position than to fill it with the wrong candidate.

In the interim, Bauer has continued to fulfill the duties of vice president of finance and as college president.
