Washington is now home to a new electrical supply shop, Holt Electrical Supply, located at 1852 Highway A.

The business opened June 4. There are two other locations in St. Louis — all three are owned by Sylvan Holtzman.

The branch manager is Jeff Backhaus, Marthasville, who has worked with Holt Electrical Supply for the past two years. He has been in the electrical industry for 25 years.

“When I went to work at Holt Electrical Supply, (Holtzman) said he’d always wanted to move out this way,” Backhouse said. “He thought this was the perfect opportunity to do so and that there was a potential for growth out here.”

The new location has about 7,000 square feet. Holt is a retail and wholesale electrical distributorship that offers residential, commercial and industrial electrical products. The business also offers free delivery service.

Backhaus said he’s excited to be in Washington, to work with contractors and faces he’s familiar with.

Personally, he said his goals are to grow the business considerably and hire more employees. Currently, there are two employees including Backhaus. Both are local residents.

“We want to be a part of the community that we’re in,” Backhaus said. “We’re hoping to hire within our community as well.”

A grand opening will be held at a later date.

Holt Electrical Supply is open from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Backhaus said there may eventually be some Saturday morning hours.

The businesses phone number is 636-231-6969.
