Puzzle Piece Early Learning Center recently added 2,016 square feet to its facility at 5632 Steutermann Road in Washington.

With the addition, the child care center now has 4,314 square feet.

“I’m really proud that my husband and I worked so hard for this, and in less than three years we were able to become this big,” said owner and director Courtney Riegel, who owns the business with her husband Daniel.

The Riegels also added a 53- by 60-square-foot parking lot to their property.

The business, which was licensed for 30 children, is now licensed for 74 children.

With the expansion also came six new employees for a total of 14 staff members.

The facility, which opened in October 2009, cares for children from 6 weeks to 6 years old.

In the fall, Riegel said she plans to work with the Washington School District Parents as Teachers program to begin developmental screening for children.
