The Franklin County Commission received 10 bids for construction on a new bridge on Country Club Road.

The lowest bid was from Don Schnieders Excavation, Jefferson City, at $330,868.80.

Other bids included:

R.V. Wagner, St. Louis, $379,510.18;

Eckelkamp Excavating, Washington, $388,782.50;

N.B. West, Brentwood, $372,242;

Kozeny Wagner, Arnold, $355,158.12;

Boone Construction, Columbia, $334,963.75;

XL Contracting, St. Peters, $406,285.84;

Ed Laubinger Excavation, St. Clair, $365,369.70;

L. Krupp Construction, Ellisville, $348,837; and

K.J. Unnerstall Construction, Washington, $372,965.

The project will be funded through the federal surface transportation program, which means the county will be reimbursed for 80 percent of the costs.

It appears that the project will be under estimates regardless of which bidder is awarded the contract — estimates from CRD & Associates put the project cost at $412,362.50.

Eva Gadcke, Franklin County highway administrator, said the Country Club Road project won’t be the last bridge replaced in the county this year.

She said she hopes to go out to bid for a project on Wild Plum Valley Road as soon as next week.

The county also received approval recently for the Labadie Great Streets project from MoDOT. That project will need federal approval before going out to bid for construction.
