Construction for the new Hardee’s Restaurant on East Fifth Street is expected to begin the last week of June, according to Tim Eagan of Eagan Building Group, the local construction manager.

The restaurant will be built at 228 E. Fifth St., the same location it was before being destroyed by a Dec. 23, 2011, fire.

A Colorado-based company, Rising Stars, LLC, is listed as the owner on the building permit, which was filed with the city Friday, June 8.

The general contractor is Noblit Didier Design & Build, Kansas City, Mo.

“Despite the general contractor being out of Kansas City, the company made the effort to make sure it is all local participation in the construction of the restaurant,” Eagan said. “They’ve made it pretty clear from the onset that they want the people who might be patronizing the restaurant to be the ones who are getting the work to build it.”

The new restaurant will be 1,899 square feet with a stone and EFIS (Exterior Insulation and Finishing System) exterior and has an estimated price tag of just under $400,000.

The restaurant plan calls for 38 seats.

A North Carolina architecture firm, National Restaurants Designers, Division of LMHT Associates, prepared a rendering of the new restaurant.

The building is expected to be complete by late September.
