After 17 years providing eye care in Washington and Belle, Obermark Optometry is partnering with Revolution EHR to make the change from paper to electronic health records.

The office currently uses paper for inter- and intra-office medical communication.

An electronic system will allow Obermark Optometry to increase overall efficiencies with medical documentation and communication, opthalmic goods inventory, ease processes relating to accounts receivable, accounts payable and patient care scheduling.

“Obermark Optometry is committed to using technology wisely and strategically in order to improve the quality and safety of patient care,” said Dr. Ed Obermark.

“Revolution EHR is the next step in the evolution of the electronic record and represents a milestone in reading a goal we have set for a long time — a single, streamlined electronic patient record,” he said. “Of upmost importance, the move to electronic health records will improve overall patient care outcome by tightening the process of examination, documentation and appliance delivery.”

Obermark said electronic records will ensure that providers have access to all information for a patient from across the health system in a single, unified record.

“We are excited about EHR’s features and functionality. It will be a useful source for new and existing clients,” he said. “This fully integrated health record system is the right tool to use and it’s the right time to use it.”

About EHR

Revolution EHR is a leading software program designed specifically for the optometric care industry.

The company offers secure electronic document exchange and is classified by the government as a certified health information handler for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services.

It is an integrated system which combines the various parts of a patient’s medical record, including electronic prescribing, computerized physician order entry, insurance claims processes, charge capture and ophthalmic appliance inventory.

A detailed plan to phase in electronic means at the Washington and Belle offices is scheduled for July through September. The system will officially go live Oct. 1.
