Blue Duck Cafe to Open Cupcakery in Early July
By Karen Myers, Missourian Staff Writer
The Missourian
Beginning July 1, Blue Duck Cafe & Bakery in Washington will open a cupcakery at the restaurant.
Karmen Rayburn, who owns the business with her husband Chris, said that expanding bakery operations was always a goal.
There will be at least five flavors of cupcakes that will change weekly, Rayburn said. Each week, the cupcake selection will be posted on the restaurant’s website, www.blueduckcafebakery.com, and at facebook.com/blueduckcafebakery.
In addition to cupcakes, mini pies and pie and cheesecake by the slice also will be available.
Rayburn will still accept orders for custom cakes and desserts, as she has in the past.
There will always be some variation of the favorites offered, she added, which are french silk and coconut cream pie.
Customers will be able to mix and match cupcakes and have a variety of choices.
“I’m excited to do what I love doing. Baking is what I like and now I have an outlet to make all of my favorites,” Rayburn said. “Desserts make people happy, and I enjoy making people happy.”
Blue Duck Cafe & Bakery is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays at 1381 High St., Suite 111.
