The Franklin County Commission has endorsed a new 60-bed senior living project for the city of Union

St. Louis-based Benchmark Healthcare, LLC, announces Benchmark Healthcare of Union, a 30,000-square-foot skilled nursing care facility.

The facility will be located at the intersection of St. Andrews Drive and Denmark Road. It will employ approximately 90 associates.

The new skilled nursing care facility will create both jobs and a much needed “care-amenity” for the community, according to John Sells, Benchmark Healthcare president and CEO.

Preliminary building designs are completed and a groundbreaking is projected for fall 2012, with resident occupancy in fall 2013.

Sells said the $6.5 million facility will feature state-of-the-art amenities and infrastructure to improve and modernize the quality of care in the area. The services provided will be a combination of both long-term care and rehab-to-home.

“It is all about the people we are privileged to care for, their loving families, and our dedicated caretakers,” he said. “Nothing is greater than a person’s right to live comfortably and contentedly in a friendly, caring environment, regardless of their special needs or affliction.

“The city of Union will be the perfect place to accomplish this goal. Individuals who live in the surrounding area want to stay in the neighborhood they know and love,” he added.

Sells said the company is excited to further expand its St. Louis presence within a deep-rooted community like Union.

Benchmark Healthcare, LLC, is a regional operator and investor in senior housing properties, specifically focusing on skilled nursing care. The company is based in St. Louis with operations in two states, representing 20 facilities, 1,900 units and 1,650 associates.
