The American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program, which connects volunteer drivers with people who need rides to and from their cancer treatment appointments, is in need of more drivers in this area.
Ideal candidates are anyone between the ages of 18 and 82 who have Missouri driver’s licenses and time to spare during the day.
Volunteers don’t need any special medical training or knowledge, although they will be required to complete training, which can be done online in their home at their own convenience.
For more information on becoming a volunteer or to sign up, people should call 1-800-227-2345 or go to cancer.org and start the process. Patients in need of a ride to treatment can call that same number.
