The city of Washington will once again pick up residents’ leaves.

City crews will conduct two rounds of leaf pickups for residents this year. The first is scheduled to run from Monday, Oct. 30, through Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Round two will start Monday, Nov. 27, and end Friday, Dec. 8.

In both rounds, crews will start picking up leaves on the east side of town and proceed to the west.  If the leaves are not out on the day crews are in the area, they will be picked up in the second round.

Residents are asked to rake their leaves to the curb, but not place them in the streets, gutters or on sidewalks.

Residents also are asked to not park vehicles near the piles of leaves to make it easier for crews to pick them up. If vehicles are parked on or too close to the pile those leaves will be left and picked up on the second round as long as the vehicle is moved.

Leaves also can be taken to the city’s recycle center. The center is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
