A Washington man died Friday, Aug. 24, when the vehicle he was driving left the road and crashed into two structures.
Michael V. Ley, 57, Washington, died when his 1998 Freightliner FL70 traveled off the road and struck a barn and a house, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol preliminary report.
The patrol states Ley was southbound on Highway 185 south of Liberty School Road at 10:25 a.m. when the truck traveled off the right side of the road, began to skid, returned to the road, and then traveled off the left side of the road.
The truck went up an embankment before striking a barn and then a house. Ley was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel. Ley was transported by Russell Colonial Funeral Home to the St. Louis County Morgue.
He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
