No new candidates have filed for the Washington School Board election in April.

Two candidates filed opening day and another registered last week. There are three open seats.

Incumbent Scott Byrne, 261 Hunters Ridge Drive, Labadie, and Janie Chalem, 410 Brookfield Drive, Washington, both filed opening day. Anton Burger Hinrichs, 2553 E. Fifth St., Washington, filed last Tuesday.

The terms of Byrne, Jennifer Triplett and Brian Sumner will expire this spring.

Board members are elected to three-year terms.

The last day for candidates to file is Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 5 p.m. at the district administration office, 220 Locust St. in Washington.

Regular filing hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and resident taxpayers of the district, who have resided in Missouri for one year preceding the election.

Candidates also must be at least 24 years of age, not a registered sex offender, not serving a sentence or period of probation for a felony or a crime that if committed in Missouri would have been a felony, and never been convicted of or pled guilty to a felony misdemeanor under federal laws.
