Amanda Postma has joined the Washington Missourian news staff as a general assignment reporter. Her first day was Thursday.

Postma, 22, grew up on a small farm in Southwest Missouri in the town of Clever. She graduated third in her class from Clever High School in 2014.

She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where she earned her Bachelor of Journalism degree with an emphasis in magazine writing and a minor in black studies this past May.

During her time at MU, Postma gained experience at the Columbia Missourian as a sports reporter. She covered Rock Bridge High School girls and boys basketball, baseball, tennis and golf, and also reported the MU gymnastics meets.

She was a contributing writer for MU’s Vox magazine where she wrote for the Food and Drink and Arts and Culture sections.
