An O'Fallon man was killed Friday, Oct. 5, while riding a motorcycle that was involved in a crash with a car on Highway 100 at South Point Road.
According to Washington Police, Matthew J. Schaeffer was eastbound on Highway 100 at 6:27 p.m. on a 2017 Harley-Davidson when the motorcycle struck a 2012 Honda CRV, driven by Gloria Struttmann, Washington.
The Struttmann car was westbound on Highway 100 turning left onto South Point Road when it was struck by the Schaeffer motorcycle, police said.
Schaeffer was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to Washington police.
Struttmann was transported by Washington ambulance for medical evaluation with non-life threatening injures.
Washington police are investigating the likely cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
