Washington American Legion Post 218 will observe Veterans Day this Sunday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at the post home, 1007 East Third St.

This year’s event also will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day when hostilities in World War I ended on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour in 1918.

The public is invited to the program.

Marine Master Sgt. Tim Gates, NJROTC instructor at Washington High School, will be a guest speaker, according to Post 218 Commander George Gerner.

Washington Mayor Sandy Lucy also will speak.

The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will observe their 100th anniversaries in 2019.
